Edinburgh at Dawn
Edinburgh, Scotland attracts over 5 million visitors each year. Historic areas such as the Royal Mile easily become overwhelmed by 9am, as eager visitors pile into the Old Town to shop, dine, or marvel at the historic architecture.
So set a very early alarm and do not hit the snooze button because there’s nothing like going out to explore Edinburgh in the dawn sunlight.
Edinburgh At Dawn takes you to discover the monuments, stories, and small details of the city that most visitors miss because they’re caught in the intense crowds. Instead, you will wander Edinburgh’s empty streets as the first morning light warms the ancient structures, slipping between the labyrinth of plinths, alleyways, and narrow passageways, or closes.
Watch the sun rise from Calton Hill for the best viewpoints in the city. Or take your time window shopping on the Royal Mile without feeling like you’re holding up traffic. And maybe even consider a bracing swim from the beach in Leith as the light washes over the Firth of Forth.
You will end your dawn adventure with a warming pot of tea, a hearty bowl of porridge, or a traditional Scottish breakfast in one of the city’s many cozy cafés or bakeries right about the time the rest of the city is just waking up.
